After winning on the flat and over jumps for us in Australia, we campaigned Gorge in the UK where he won twice over steeples and ran in some of the biggest meetings in world racing, including weighing-in on King George Chase Day at Kempton and becoming the only Australian horse this century to compete at Aintree when finishing midfield in the race after the Grand National itself.
Reynaire was purchased cheaply after suffering a severe tendon injury and so required careful planning of his raining and racing program, not altogether helped by his insistence on pulling very hard in trackwork! Nonetheless he repaid everyone's hard work in spades, winning twice including picking up a very valuable vobis platinum bonus for his owners at Werribee.
Bought as a cheap yearling, Fleet Dreams had a respectable career at the professionals with a 1st and 2nd at Ballarat, before striking his true metier on the picnic circuit, where his performances included a win in the Healesville Cup, a head 2nd in a track-record-breaking Woolamai Cup and a very emotional win in the valuable picnic Corinthian at Cranbourne. He was the favourite horse of our late and dearly missed son Rohan.
Bought as a yearling Fournaise grew into a tall, imposing lad with a lot of natural ability. A very serious tendon injury sadly cut his career short but he still managed to post 5 wins and a 2nd at Moonee Valley.
Bred by her owners, Arachne was born with a twisted leg which looked like ending her career before it started. Amazingly from there she went on to win 5 races (alongside 9 seconds!) on surfaces ranging from Good 3 to Heavy 10. A true iron horse!
Bought cheaply from NSW Sanctuary beame a stable favourite immediately for his beautiful nature, which seemed to calm horses (and people!) around him. He also brought us plenty of joy on the track including the rare distinction of winning on the flat, over hurdles and over steeples all in the same season, each time ridden by his regular partner John Allen (before he switched to the flat and became Group 1 Johnny!) After his retirement Sanctuary stayed on as a beloved stable pony, guiding his young and fractious stablemates onto the track in the morning and to the races in the afternoon.
Possibly one of the crankiest stable favourites possible, but The Taurean did us very proud on Grand Annual Day 2008 when bolting up in the Novice Hurdle.
